This November, the U.S. will receive the Wii Mini bundled with Mario Kart Wii for $99. The Wii Mini also comes with a red Wiimote and Nunchuck. Back in 2012, the Wii Mini was originally available in Canada, but nowhere else.
The Wii Mini strips away all online functionality which means you won’t be able to play online, access the Wii Shop to download Virtual Console games, or watch Netflix. Also, the SD card, which is available on the original Wii, won’t be found on the Wii Mini. Stripping away all of these features is meant to keep the price down and attract a casual market (which we’ve seen with the 2DS).
It’s interesting that Nintendo is releasing the Wii Mini in the U.S. when they are suppose to be focusing their attention on the Wii U at the moment.
